the art of persistence

There's a light shining through the crack of your door and
it casts a shadow like I've never seen before
The hallway is filled with faces and each one holds a memory of you
If there is anything to say, it's been said by so many
But the obvious isn't so obvious to feet that only rock bottom can steady

Youth is an excuse for fear and the acts it fools us into doing
Stubbornness and the need to be right are so wrong
Every love story is unique, yet so similar
We're silly in our need to show we're different
Life is so precious and we take it for granted
Squandering affirmations of grandeur for a near death existence
Deaf, dumb and blind to the art of persistence
